Rwenzori originates from a smallholder project in Uganda's Western region, where our importing partner, Mountain Harvest, expanded its operations in 2022. They established the Rwenzori Smallholder Project alongside its first washing station in the Rwenzori Mountains. From the very first season, the region demonstrated incredible potential, thanks to a unique combination of terroir, high-quality cherries, and dedicated farmers, all pointing towards a promising future for Ugandan coffee.

Building on this potential, the project is committed to constructing a new washing station for the 2024 season. This development is guided by Seth Nduwayo, a processing technician who prioritizes both coffee quality and positive impact on farmers. The new washing station represents an investment in the region and seeks to create the infrastructure necessary to enhance the quality of coffee produced by its smallholder farmers.

The current lot is a natural-processed coffee from the Rwenzori region, showcasing its distinctive character. By allowing the cherries to dry with the fruit intact, this method highlights a vibrant, fruit-driven flavour profile while preserving the coffee's character and terroir.
Rwenzori signifies a new chapter for Ugandan coffee, highlighting the potential of the country's Western region and demonstrating the positive effects that thoughtful processing, strong farmer relationships, and investment in local infrastructure can have on coffee quality.
