How do we feel about this coffee

It feels rich, dark, and nuanced, like palm sugar, nougat, and a perfectly toasted bowl of almonds, paired with a late-night cigar by the fire, accompanied by a glass of Balvenie Sixty, a 60-year-old single malt.

Coffee Story
Coffee from India boasts a fantastic combination of creamy sweetness and fresh tobacco notes, which we always thought would make the ideal dark roast coffee. So we thought, why the heck not? We know it's a single-origin coffee from the acclaimed Ratnagiri Estate, but what if we make it a DARK roast? Like maybe even approaching Detour dark?!? So, lo and behold, we introduce a SINGLE ORIGIN DARK ROAST... India Ratnagiri Lot 1!!!

Ratnagiri Estate is situated in the southwestern part of India, in the state of Karnataka, just outside the village of Athigiri and adjacent to the 'coffee city' of Chikkamagaluru. The farm is quite large at 120 acres, grows coffee between 1250 and 1450 MASL, and produces around 7 containers (around 140,000 kilograms) each year. In addition to the exceptional experimental anaerobic micro-lots produced at Ratnagiri, Mr. Patre also makes some more traditional washed process coffees each year. This specific catuai lot is one of those.

India Ratnagiri Lot 1 Dark

I would call the roast medium-dark. Not over roasted. I brewed it in a French press, and I can confirm all the flavour notes described. This coffee is lovely for the French press.
