WHAT'S IN THE BOX?
001 Ecuador El Sauce
This familiar favourite is from Loja, one of our new favourite regions in southern Ecuador. After a few sweet notes, we sang its super sweet melodies repeatedly. It feels so smooth and layered, like homemade cranberry jam, brown sugar sprinkled over toasted almonds, and candied banana chips on a picnic in the English countryside.
002 Ethiopia Buncho Honey
We love, love coffees from Daye Bensa's communities and washing stations, so when the opportunity came up to get this floral and sweet honey-processed heirloom from a station we hadn't bought from before, we jumped at the chance. The Shantawene farmers and the Buncho Station lived up to the hype with a floral, sweet and summery-like fresh watermelon, a pack of fuzzy peach candy, and sipping on a sparking lemonade to the sounds of Summer Breeze by Seals and Croft.
003 Nicaragua La Benedición Natural
ITS BAAACK! COE-winning Producer Luis Alberto's famous coffee farms in the Nueva Segovia region of Nicaragua need no introduction. As long as we keep sourcing this naturally processed Pacamara from Finca La Bendición, there's a good chance it will always be in this box! This year's coffee is delightfully syrupy, fruit-forward and feels extra special, like golden raspberry jam, an Asian pear smothered in sweet molasses and opening up your lunchbox to find the only passionflakie!
004 Rwanda Muzo Giko Hill
They say a sequel is never as good as the original, but this returning Red Bourbon is bucking the trends. Grown by the small but mighty Giko Hill Group and Emmanuel Rustafaria's Muzo station in the Gakenke District is a big-time outlier. This year's lot feels juicy, sweet and comforting, like sticky fig jam lightly spiced with cardamom, dark maple syrup drizzled over a Belgian waffle and a walk in the forest during a warm summer rainfall with an Assam black team with a slice of lemon.
005 Honduras La Montana Gesha
We had extremely high hopes for this inaugural floral and sparkly Gesha from the renowned Santa Barabar region. Being that it was expertly grown and processed anaerobically using organic methods by Elder Martinez, and wouldn't you know it, it was exquisite!! It has all the Gesha-like goodness in the cup profile. It feels fresh, smooth, and invigorating, like a crisp clementine, wildflower honey drizzled into your warm green tea and walking barefoot through a field of wild jasmine flowers.
