Coffee Story
This coffee was a labour of love, crafted in collab with our pal, Julianna Riolino, to celebrate the release of her sophomore album, Echo in the Dust. Julianna didn't just lend her name to the coffee; she came into the Detour roastery, tasted coffees, and chose an exclusive lot that paired well with commemorating the release of her beautiful new record, "Echo in the Dust."
Like a Rembrandt represents Julianna’s love for coffee, both out on the open highway and at home at the farm. It feels sweet, earnest, and serene, like a Cortland apple, milk chocolate drizzled over roasted hazelnuts, and a rural moonlit drive home in the country along Highway 3, to the sounds of 'In Dreams' by Roy Orbison. And to make it even more special, each coffee comes with a QR code that allows you to access exclusive content directly from Julianna. So sit back, drop the needle on Echo in the Dust, and enjoy the same earnest and serene brew that Julianna is enjoying.

About the Guatemala La Resistencia Blend
The La Resistencia blend is made up of coffees from core members of the Café Colis Resistencia group who have been instrumental in the organizing and struggle against the Canadian Escobal silver mine, constructed without the approval or consent of the indigenous Xinka peoples who inhabit the land. Cafe Colis Resistencia is the name created by Alex Reynoso to identify coffee-producing members of the Indigenous Xinka community around Mataquescuintla who are interested in developing an international market for their coffee and, therefore, finally receiving fair prices. Within the Mataquescuintla area, nearly 90% of the population identifies as a coffee producer. Yet, only some producers can access a market beyond selling in cherry to local intermediaries or large farms that process their coffee and sell it as blended lots to the international market.
