Coffee Story
Here’s the thing: We’ll be the first ones to admit it, we’re not perfect here at Detour. It’s not often we make a big OOPS and drop an entire batch of coffee a little too early, or just full on forget it’s even in the ole roaster and burn the absolute SH*T out of it. (full disclaimer…we have never done this, but enjoy trolling our roasting team at any opportunity)
Either way, we’re just humans here like you, and we often make mistakes. Most of the time, these mistakes are super tiny and not all that noticeable, but sometimes, they don’t meet the high-quality standard bar we've set for ourselves internally, and we over-hyper-analyze each and every mistake (can we get an Amen?!).
So this is our way of being a little more sustainable and transparent about it and NOT wasting perfectly good coffee. This coffee was still sourced based on our sourcing ethos. The producer, farmer, and importing partner were still paid the same price we always pay, and it was still roasted in small batches by Detour Coffee. Still, the roast might be slightly off our target profile zone, or the green coffee might not have met our high expectations upon arrival or after storage.
This is specialty coffee of good quality, and in most cases, it is much better than many other cheap options on the market. We just would rather sell it at a lower price than waste it.
The content of these bags will vary depending on our OOPS (mistakes).
