Coffee Story
Located in the La Libertad region in Huehuetenango, close to the most western border with Mexico, Finca La Bolsa is situated at a high altitude, with plentiful rainfall, abundant shade and moderate temperatures needed to grow exceptional coffee. María Elena’s son Renardo Ovalle and the farm agronomist Mercedes manage La Bolsa and all facets of coffee production with a central goal to produce and export fine coffees and build long-term relationships with their partners. Together, their family has been awarded the prestigious Outstanding Coffee Grower award from ANACAFE (the Guatemalan National Coffee Association). They have now grown to care for four neighbouring farms to help the extended family.
