La Vuida, Costa RicaDetour Coffee Roasters
Introducing another amazing coffee from one of our long-standing partner’s farms! This year, we have once again purchased multiple coffees from the Cup of Excellence winning producer Roger Urena's Santa Teresa micro mill. The first release is a Yellow Honey processed Catuai lot, grown in the Santa Maria de Dota valley in Tarrazu on his farm La Vuida.
The coffee exemplifies the high quality of the Tarrazu region with a buttery pastry-like texture leading to a brown sugar sweetness and notes of yellow plum, marmalade, and brown sugar.
Roger is a third-generation coffee producer who, along with his son Alex, owns and operates the wet-mill, Santa Teresa 2000, where he processes the coffees from all his farms in the region. This specific farm is part of a government program for agriculture and sustainability called Bandera Azul, which focuses on their environmental practices on the farm to guarantee zero carbon emissions and achieve a Carbon Neutral certification.
