Our lead roaster and 2011 and 2012 Central Canadian Barista Champion, Geoff Woodley will lead an espresso "101" class at our Burlington roasting facility. Participants will learn the ins and outs of espresso theory and extraction and how to adjust grind and dose to create balance. Basic milk steaming will also be covered. Class will be limited to 4 participants to give everyone a chance to practice on our La Marzocco GS3 espresso machine and each person will receive a pound of coffee. Cost per person is $100
Latte Art 101:
1 - 3:30pm
Will Thorburn, a barista and roaster at Detour will lead this workshop at our roastery. Will is the best latte artists we've had at Detour and recently took first place in a competition in Toronto. Having been trained by world renowned latte art champion, Chris Deferio, Will will demonstrate stretching and texturing to create optimal milk for pouring latte art. This class will be limited to 3 participants to allow each person to practice and each person will receive a free pound of coffee. Cost per person is $100
For participants who would like to participate in both classes there will be a lunch break in between sessions for 1 hour and a discounted price of $180 to partake in both classes.
